So, exam time always pops up as the best time of the semester to update these places. Blogs, tumblr (then again I waste time on that everyday), twitter, facebook. I probably would even sign up for a bunch more just for more things to distract me!
This morning I wrote my MGMT2000 exam, which is basically just stats. It was alright. It's one of those courses where you read it and listen in class and go "oh yeah, I totally get what you're saying", and go home and study thinking the exact same thing, go into the exam and write it thinking "yeah that ain't too bad, I should get a decent mark on this". Then BAM. Do you get a decent mark? Of course not. Pfft. I swear the prof is out to get us anyways. She went to Stanford so she's some sort of mathematical genius who talks really fast and rambles on about her kids every now and again mumbling some course related material in between catching us totally off guard. Glad that's over.
On a different note, don't you hate those awkward moments when you start a conversation with people you're walking with but they don't hear you so it looks like you're talking to yourself? Well that happens to me a lot. And I don't mean a lot like an exaggeration of the one or two times its ever happened. I mean a lot like the three times it happened to me this morning while walking to my exam. Of course they were listening to their music, but so was I. I don't know about you, but when I'm walking somewhere and listening to music I generally don't have it blaring in my ear. I'd like to hear if a car is honking cause it's about to knock me over. But yes back to the talking to myself thing, I've really gotten used to it. No taking it personally or anything, I really just find it rather funny at this point. It's pretty similar to when I add a joke to a conversation and everyone just sort of looks at each other awkwardly and doesn't respond or say anything for that matter. I should really keep track of how many times this happens cause hitting double digits should be a record of some sort.
Anyways, the snow is blistering cold, my boots are soaked but thank mom for my new winter coat that keeps me nice and snuggly. I think I'm pretty much ready for summer at this point. Oh wait, Christmas first. Definitely ready for that! Till then. More random updates at the most unexpected times to come! Happy Holidays!

Open my eyes and I see sky;
Sorry for the ridiculously long absence from this blog! Really I've been doing more reblogs on tumblr instead. But I'll try to keep this place alive from time to time. Needless to say second year has been a rollercoaster ride thus far. But I have amazing housemates to enjoy it with and am enjoying my classes much more than last year. So all is good. Other than exams of course! But those will be over in a weekkk. EXCITED. :) I'll just leave you with some pictures of the happs since Sept!

sweat pants, hair tied, chilling with no make up on;
"... that's when you're the prettiest I hope that you don't take it wrong."
Anyways, I figured I didn't wanna rub it into my friends faces here that I'm really excited to go home. Like REALLY excited. Though summer here is awesome, living with my sister is cool and I love the weather lots. I'm looking forward to the luxury of just living at home. Big time. FOUR DAYS WOOT WOOT. :)

if everyone cared;
I believe we still have alot to learn. Yes, young people have the right to knowledge and discuss politics healthily. But it sometimes infuriates me when people automatically jump on the bandwagon for such extremist views. Like I said, we all have alot to learn, and there is no better time than now to do it.

blame it on construction;
...but it's really not.
I apologize for the terrible colour combinations but I was just desperate for a change around here. I could say that I'm working on it, but really who am I kidding. I can live with it for now.

you with the sad eyes, don't be discouraged;
So I watched SATC 2 tonight. It was probably the most fashion-mind-boggling experience of my life. How do they make all these outrageous couture outfits seem almost expected in casual settings? Obviously I'm not going to spoil the movie for you girls(&guys) out there! But definitely a highly recommended, must-see.
Did I mention I'm also in love with the series finale of Ugly Betty? A month late but I've finally completed watching all the episodes and am totally upset that the show will be no more. Oh yess, and though Modern Family hasn't started showing in Msia yet, that is another must-see too!
Hah, don't judge my excessive free time which I may or may not be filling with catching up on various tv series and watching reruns of The Hills and The City as well as The After Show. It's the summer. Isn't that what people do? Well that and earn some moolah. I really hope work picks up so I don't leave an imprint of my butt on the couch already!
Oh yes, and per request, it has been confirmed that I'll be home July 4th! Can't wait to see you people! ♥

you told me i was pretty when i looked like a mess;
You know the feeling where you're neither here nor there? Yeah well, it sucks. I'm just really starting to dislike this lack of interaction with people. The lack of a life really. I can honestly go through the day talking to only one person, my sister (which isn't a bad thing). It's just hard going from never shutting up and jumping from one thing to the next over to strings of days with no plans whatsoever. I just hate that I can't call one of you guys from home and be like, lets go to the park, or go downtown or go to the beach, cause you guys totally would! Needless to say I miss you people so much, more than I could ever justify.
Bleah this is a little sappy and ranty. But hey I don't have many readers anymore anyway. Plus I hope I've at least been able to make my point. I MISS YOU!

wishing you'd come sweeping in the way you did before;
Wow okay, so I have been pretty terrible at updating this place since school started in the fall. I'm sure many of you readers have pretty much given up dropping in here. Sorry bout that. For those of you still wasting that millisecond to click in I shall provide you an update nonetheless.
So school is over. Like over. Like I am entirely finished with first year. Like two months till I get home. Like a week till I start work. Like summer! Yay?
Lets just say exams were okay. It's weird, due to the overlapping of exams and people moving out, it didn't have the whole exam feel to it. Of course my crazy exam weekend marathon felt like an exam, with serious aftermath. But other than that, it's all good. I officially moved out of Vanier. Boo that. And into the apartment, which is great! :) Mom has done a wonderful job at making it feel very homey. I like, it's nice. :) I love the fact that I'm only one streetcar ride away from downtown Toronto, thats pretty sickk.
Oh! Okay, so last Tuesday I was out with my mom and her friends when I get many many missed calls from Claudine and Portia, I didn't really know what they wanted and didn't wanna be rude by picking my phone up at the table so I waited till the meal was over. When I finally called them back, Claud was like "We lost the house." WTFFF. Our (idiot)landlord had sold our freaking house that we were supposed to rent next year! After months of searching high and low, and signing leases and paying deposits and shit, he basically threw our cheques back at us and was like byebye and good luck finding another place. Effing insane.
Anyways, long story short, Claud and Portia ran all over the village, called over 50 numbers, set up 3 appointments and finally found us all another place. We went in the very next day and signed the lease. It should be nice. :) It's still under construction but I'm looking forward to seeing the final product come June.
Other than that, all the internationals are leaving/have left this week. It's going to be so weird, definitely making me miss home alot more but having my mom here has definitely helped! It still hasn't really processed that we're all moved out of residence. We all won't be merely a couple steps away from each others doors. We aren't all just going to randomly end up in Emma's room or 1309 just chilling doing nothing in particular. Especially that half are moving back into res and we're scattered in different houses. But yeah, I'm just really going to miss the whole residence experience. It was definitely amazing.
Funny to think how I begun the year, the loner, eating alone in my room. And how I've ended it off. A total 180 degree turn. But a turn that I am thankful for nonetheless! It's been a while since I've posted pictures here. :)

mcworld;
"Who made your t-shirt? Was it a child in Vietnam? Or a young girl from India earning 18 cents per hour? Did you know that she lives 12 to a room? That she is forced to work 90 hours each week, without overtime pay? That she lives not only in poverty, but also in filth and sickness, all in the name of Nike's profits?"
"To the student activist demonstrating against free trade so concerned about the evils of the race to the bottom, so concerned about where and how her t-shirt was produced, I would tell her to appreciate what markets and trade had accomplished for all of the sisters in time who have been liberated by life in a sweatshop, and that she should be careful about dooming anyone to life on the farm. I would tell her that the poor suffer more from exclusion from politics than from the perils of the market, and that if she had activist energy left over it should be focused on including people in politics rather than shielding them from markets."

stop telephoning me;
The sun is shining, it's 15 degrees out, most of my friends are downtown celebrating the Irish. And here I am, in a freaking basement, reading about Organizational Behaviour. You know you wish you were me. ;)

freeze, like me;
Gong Hei Fatt Choy everyone! :) This was in fact my first Chinese New Year without the fam. No I did not let it go to waste though. I know that a holiday like this which is usually celebrated around family and food wouldn't be the same unless I planned on flying home for a week. So instead I went to Quebec. Traveled Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City in three days. It was pretty darn awesome and pictures shall be up on fbook soon enough. Theres just wayy too many to get through! Lol. The rest of my reading week was spent mostly downtown exploring and playing tourist/cool Torontonian. Haha. We did all sorts of museums, art galleries and markets. And ended it with a bang. :)
Four months people! :)

comprehend?
It's alot more pleasant when you're being talked to instead of talked at. I'm just saying, telling people what to do instead to talking to them about what should be done is a surefire way of a) pissing them off and b) acting like an asshole. I'm sorry that some of us actually have classes that we go to, and have more components to our day than refreshing our facebook pages 256 times.
Yes this is a rant-y post. And I'm sorry I know I usually hate writing and reading this kind of thing. But there are times where there is literally no one to talk to and need to find comfort in knowing that some random passer by will read this and understand the frustration. I just need to know that I'm not insane and/or an idiot for once.

life of a salesman;
Spending the weekend at my aunts place. I like how comfortable I am when I'm here. It's a good getaway from the hustle and bustle of school. Lets just say living with people day in and day out can definitely take its toll on me.

Sometimes when I'm just sitting, as I usually do, with my computer or whatever and look outside. It's hard to believe how cold it really is out there. When I'm all nice and cozy in here. :)
I've got two midterms next week, an in class assignment and an assignment due. Needless to say I definitely need to get some work done this weekend. No slacking for me. I hope. I find it really difficult to motivate myself sometimes. Cause really you do have the option of sitting and getting the shit done. Or not. No questions asked. Of course you'd have to pay when it's due or you're sitting in the exam room and are like "Oh Shit". Haha. Okay what was I talking about again?
But yes, reading week is only a week away. And this time it isn't really a reading week and more of spring break (even though it's not really that either as it is still -10'C outside) as there are no immediate mid terms after! Yay. Thus most of us have planned to remain in residence and will do some exploring of the city. It shall be fun! Museums, and Queen St. shopping. Did I mention I'm going on a three day excursion to French Canada with the International Students Association. It's pretty tightly packed but should be nice. We'll be making out way from Toronto to Ottawa, then to Quebec City (which I love!) then to Montreal and back here. Touristy stuff is my forte. :D
Other than that I'm still on the summer job hunt, though I do have one lined up so far. Gotta head down to Bloor St. today and do some applying/hunting. This stuff usually makes me nervous but it should be eh-okay. Hmm, other than that not much is new in Nique's Life O Canada.

five hundered twenty five thousand six hundered minutes;
I know, New Years and still no posts. It's funny, I've read more "I refuse to reminisce just because it's New Years" posts compared to "let's look back on 2009" posts. Maybe everyone has grown more skeptical in 2009?
But yes, I am a month too late, but my New Years was nothing short of amazing. Four days in Watford with NYE in London, ONTARIO. Watford was so much fun. Tiny town of 1500 people, I felt like I was in Gilmore Girls or something. Everyone knows each other, doors left open, 20 stores along one main road, Bluebird Square. It was good. New Years was just one thing after the other. Shopping, LCBO, dinner at Jack Astors, predrinks, legit frat party and then the Barking Toad. Plus a 35 minute trek back to the hotel with flats which were impossible to walk in because of the ice on the sidewalks. I landed on by butt a couple times that night, but it was all good. :)
Since school has begun, I haven't been that busy yet. Everyone loves being back together reunited once again. Especially since most of them had almost a full month off, while I had just a little over a week. But it's all good. Classes this term are a little more interesting. I am so glad to be over and done with Business History! :)
Yesterday I went to go watch Rent the Musical with Kach, Mary Lou and Jillian. It was SO good. I love. But yess. Anywho's will catch up again soon. Still miss you guys tons. 5 more months!
xoxo
