another year wiser

Happy Birthday
Jacqueline Siew Lim!
Dear Kach, you turned the BIG 20 today! With you half way around the world, halloween was a drag. I really hope that you have a great birthday!
(this is kinda funny, since my sis doesn't read my blog) but yea. She is pretty awesome. :) About a week ago, she sent me there gorgeous card, that just said (in her exact words) ;
"Dear Nikki,
Thanks for being the
SICKEST
sister ever!
Love your hip hop gangsta moves.
Its ballin'.
Stay the same. :)
Your Loving Sister,
Jacqueline "
So sweet kan? It had this awesome picture of me when i was like two or something like that doing this really gangsta' pose. Its hilarious. I may decide to post it up here one day. ;) But for now, you're imagination will do. Oh yea, she has also transformed into Super Nerd in Canada. I guess thats what uni does to you. HAHA. I should probably write more about my sister, but yea. I seem to have writer's block. Except i'm not really a writer. :D

if your dan humphrey, i'm serena :)

gosh. just watched another episode of gossip girl. my heart is just melting. i love dan humphrey. :) it funny how i am so devoted to watching it online every single friday. no matter how many users warner bros suspends on youtube, i always manage to find a complete episode. its fate. (and i hope i didn't just jinx it. touch virtual wood) yeah.

its two weeks to spm, and here i am, spending my night watching useless tv programs, then spending an hour on gossip girl. and now waiting for friday night lights to start. talk about motivation. :/ i should probably go do some physics or something. we just got our magazine and robes today. i know the whole graduation thing is all out of context just cause we don't exactly have the carefree-ness of post exam students, but hey. its something. and something is always better than nothing. :) it should be fun, graduation i mean. it gives us girls a reason to get all dolled up and have a fun night. plus, we have only a couple days of actual school-school left.

can you believe it? this time, next month we will officially be jumping for joy, going all nuts and having fun. gaaahhhh. I. WANT. NOW. then i can safely watch tv without the "what are you doing?" glares, and that nagging guilty feeling which i am able to so easily push aside. anyway, yea. five years of high school, over. like over. tons of great memories. :) people, don't forget to sign my yearbook! :D

anywhoo, i've got five minutes to friday night lights. oh and i've just been diagnosed with DHS (the Dan Humphrey Syndrome) i better start getting daily doses of gossip girl. ;)

i'm pretty sure i have a short attention span. i was gonna write this long nostalgic post about high school and all that jazz, but yea. the tv is calling my name. maybe i'll get around to it after i graduate ... university or something. ;p

cottage hopping 06

for no specific reason, i've decided to post up pics from my trip to canada last year. yes, one year and two months ago. i was thinking about it today. i miss the place. i miss my grandparents old place. i miss the was things used to be. don't we all? but then again, wasn't i the one who said i enjoy change. i'm confused. but at least i dare admit it. :)

i keep thinking his name is fat louie,
but its not. i've forgotten, haha. he's a funny cat.
:)
the sister and i at john and shelly's place. its pretty darn fancy! ;)
dad and i
me, knee boarding. its approximately ten times harder than it looks, i had knee bruises after. :( but it was fun! :D
us, sightseeing. i think i got tricked into this one
by being told that cookies were involved. :(
port carling. i love this wall, its made up of
pictures from its people and historic events.

haha, a random shot from the car,
i never got to go in there either. :(

b doing his flop, we all did it, it just wasn't shot on camera.

i love that trampoline! :D us just doing our daily jumping around. :D

the cousins, 4/7 that is.

btw, i like this picture cause it makes me look tall,

i'm actually standing on a rock, my amazing balancing skills made up for the fact that i really am the shortest of all my cousins there. even my 13 year old one. :(

the family shot.

at the taylors, with melinda and scotty.

the good ol' CN Tower, i have yet to go up there, but i'm told there isn't much. oh well, i just like the picture anyway. ;p

click

here's some random shots of this week
:)
poopie #1 : patches
(the irony of his name is that,
he doesn't have any patches, anymore)
HAHA.

poopie #2 : cassie

( she just likes to jump around and lick people's faces, oh and she thinks she's a boy, and a cat :/ i have one confused female dog. )

cuppcakes :)

moovieeeee (haha, jakun-ness)

ksm! <3

rockstar oohlala :)

tunnel of laughter :D

then it was off to visit baby kate lynn, the very next day :)

yes, yes she loves her auntie

(who she will not dare call auntie when she comes of speaking age, i'll use ice cream as my tool of bribery when it comes to that)

ah ma, me and kate lynn :)

she sounds like she's gonna cry, but you find a smile when you turn her around. she baby talks, alot. :)

second helpings

He looked straight at me, then stripped off the button-down shirt he was wearing, under which, he was wearing a passion-red T-shirt that said: YOU. YES. YOU. Then he strummed the guitar and began singing his song for me. Yes. Me.

Crocodile Lies

I confess, yes, our Fall was all my fault
If you kissed my eyes, your lips would taste salt
But you think my regret is a lie, and the tears I cry
Are the crocodile kind.

The sweat on your upper lip starts to boil
White hot with anger, still convinced i'm your foil
You keep fighting me, though my eyes are free
From crocodile lies.

You, yes, you, linger inside my heart
The same you who stopped us before we could start
I didn't want to leave, but you began to believe
Your own crocodile lies.

The only person stopping you is yourself
You won't accept that I want no one else
So until you do, I'll let someone else have you

Everyday, I live the lie
But not the crocodile kind.
-Marcus Flutie
Second Helpings
OMG. He is my new fictional crush.
Somehow Edward is still at the top of the list,
but Marcus Flutie is pretty darn close.

inside jokes from the outside

holy cow.

its been a week of holidays again. and i still seem to be able to waste it, perfectly. tons of tuition's have been canceled this week. i probably should have done something more useful with my time than sitting here pretending to study. i do that alot. pretend i mean.

anyway, its been a tough week. not just for me. but just so you know, i am so proud of you and how amazing you have been. i'm looking forward to chilling out like march. :) 40 more days to freedom. people keep saying 26 days, but i like to focus on the positive.

dad keeps on asking about ns. i don't know if he's happy or sad about it. i do know however, that i probably won't get out of it. so people, prepare yourselves for three months of nique-less-ness. i haven't decided if i'm scared to go, of excited. it will definitely be an experience to remember. hopefully i can make more friends. hopefully some to keep. i really hope that next year will bring some changes. i know people are always talking about how much they'll miss things. don't get me wrong, i definitely will, i just look forward to change. the good kind of course. i really excited for college. the subjects i'll be taking, the new faces to meet. its like a second chance to reinvent yourself.

i've managed to read a book in one day. not bad. a pretty good distraction from all that pretend studying. gosh. i need to buckle down. but i still go on pretending i'm in form 4 or whatever. anyway, sloppy firsts. thats the book that i just finished reading. its a good book, i love the way she talks. the way she writes. something random, all the books that i like seem to take place just outside new york. maybe its a sign. i'm dying to go to new york. i would be uber exciting. damn. i wanna go to bangkok too.

i'm currently really into fall fashion. i love all the coats, and the sweaters and the wool leggings and aiya, everything la. so jealous of the sister, but HAR.HAR.HAR. in your face for taking all your summer clothes home. I TOLD YOU that it would be cold, and you should have just left some at least here with me, where they would have been of use. plus a fact, your coming home in two months. no way, that just reminded me, your coming home in TWO MONTHS. in two months, high school as we know it will be over. wow. really knocks the air out of you huh?

anywho, i better get back to pretend studying, or reading the sequel to sloppy firsts, second helpings. gosh i love her "comical, intelligent, acidly funny" ness. its pretty awesome. i might hit the library. maybe not. just to avoid distractions. don't laugh at my short term attention span. LOL. yes, i have finally owned up to it. i wonder if its a real diagnosis. am i on the brink of madness? nah. okay, till next time.

the movie

i found this on youtube. mmhm. i know i have been crazy obsessed with the twilight series lately. but i thought that this was really interesting and insanely true. i'm not saying i 100% support not making the movie, but they really made their point.

"Don't kill me twilight fans
BUT
the wonderful series twilight should not be made into a movie.

WHY?

Exhibit A :
emo's

The twilight we all know and love will be categorised as 'emo',
also every emo within a 5 mile radius of me,
and most of you,
will be clad in a Twilight tee,
and will swear they are the
'biggest fan'.
though they had never even heard of it before the movie.

Yes,
can't you see it now?
The atrocities that will transpire
when the movie is out in theatres?
Which,
now my friends...
brings me to another non-attractive,
three letter word.

Exhibit B : FAD

- a temporary fashion; a craze, interest or activity that (some)people follow enthusiastically but last for a short period of time.

Twilight fans,
Imagine, if you will, bringing Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, or any of Stephenie's future releases, into class, and having some inarticulate prep-b*tch, say 'Oh-muh-gawwd! Thats from that movie with the (exaggerated gasp) HOT vampire dude! When did they make a book?'

You're not the only one that just involuntarily cringed.

I'm all for Twilight accumulating more fans,
but
fans are NOT fad-followers.

Fans are people that follow something,
not because everyone else follows that specific thing...
but because it is something that they truly cherish and love.

Fad-followers and scene-stalkers will make Stephenie's devoted fans,
before the movies,
look like nothing more than just that; fad-followers

If your choices of being seen as a fad-follower,
with the movie...

Or a true Twilight fan without the movie,
with your vision of the series still whole.

I don't know about you,
but i'd take the latter.

Do you want the best series of books you've ever come across to be detracted from?

I don't know about you but i'd rather have my personal vision of Twilight,
than a bunch of Tweenies gush and grovel over Edward,
and say his name in the same breath as 'Justin Timberlake and Jesse McCartney'.
Feel the same way as I do?

Another point I haven't gotten across yet,
is there, will there, ever be any actor perfect enough to play Edward.

I'm sick of hearing,
'Gaspard Ulliel is hot!
He'll make an awesome Edward!'

Yes, he's attractive,
but he could never,
in a million year,
portray Edward!
-hides before she is stabbed

Now, why wouldn't he make a perfectly, great 'Edward'?

Because we all have a different depiction of Edward in our heads.

And no male actor,
not matter how 'perfect' he looks for the part...
could pull off everyone's vision of Edward.

He's pretty much a figment of our imaginations...
and many of these fertile, Edward-based imaginations...

Will be traumatized if there is a movie!

You see?

A book can be perceived in a thousand ways

But with a movie, there is very limited room for perception.

There are just actions...
You won't get the hear/see the inward feelings/thoughts of each character,
like you would in the books!

You'll just hear dialogue,
and see the scene's played out
without Bella's narration
and with scarcity of detail.

What?

You thought they'd put everything from the book into the movie?
Nope.
It will just be a very condensed version of the book.

So. Keep your inner-Edward intact
and protest the making of the movie.

Don't let them ruin Twilight too!

Help save Twilight before it gets into
illiterate, fad-obsessers, unoriginal grasps! "

everybody's gonna love today

just to tease you mei.
;p

new moon

no matter how many times i read the series,
over and over,
i can never get past this paragraph;
"time passes. even when it seems impossible. even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise. it passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. even for me."
