Yes, the beginning of the series of movies for the Twilight Saga.
Much awaited.
Highly anticipated.
After four and a half hours of exams, I needed a break. So after a lot of bookings yesterday, text messages, complications and cars we ended up, seven of us, in pyramid to watch the movie of the book I used to worship back in high school.
After rereading that post from youtube that I posted up a year ago, I contemplated even watching the movie. My curiosity got the best of me and I made the plans, partly just so I won't be left out of the "Twilight-the-movie" conversations. First and foremost, I do have to say, it was good. No doubt about it. They maintained the vital scenes, just alot less of the waiting around and running through the forest.
However, (and i know i'm gonna hear alot for saying this) it just didn't do IT for me. Maybe I needed a much quieter cinema, just so that I would be able to absorb everything. But reading the book brought me so much more satisfaction, evoked more feeling. More something. Maybe a part of me didn't want to absorb everything, just to savour all my own images of the things that made, Twilight, Twilight to me. Edward, the house, Forks, Edward, the Cullens, Charlie, Jacob, La Push, Edward, Edward, Edward.
No doubt about it, Robert Pattison is hotttt and could make my heart skip a beat anyday. But he still wasn't Edward. Not the one that I imagined anyways. He was too ... slow, for lack of a better word. The first few scene's were probably the most painful. He did a pretty good job later on, but it was just those first few that I really tried to hold back laughs. Plus the fact that though our cinema was fun, cause it was full of teenagers, but they laughed at all the wrong times. -.- I guess I really do like my silence when I watch a movie.
Of course the movie still ended with me gushing over Edward. The girls and I agreeing over Robert Pattison's major drool factor and the boys rolling their eyes. I know, I was the one who used to say, never compare the book to a movie, but I can see now why sometimes people can't help it. But I will try and do as I said and consider it as just a movie and in that case, it was pretty good. :)
Though I couldn't help but freak out when I came home tonight to read Breaking Dawn, and already my images have been contaminated by scene's and actors from the movie. Fuck la. :(
