why hello there. :)
yess, holidays are over. and yess i'm sad. in a way i feel as if i didn't even get my holidays. cause i didn't get to do any of the usual holiday bumming around and intentionally procrastination homework. hah. :) but yes, the friends back home did have a blast. i think thats more than enough reason to prolong the holidays. :D i want in on the fun too!
haha. even so. new zealand was awesome. really. it was beautiful, clean, fresh air, new zealand accents, snow capped mountains and all that jazz. :D totally out of a brochure. and there was shopping too! tee hee. we managed to fit in quite a few things into those short 8 days. we road tripped around from chirstchurch, to mount cook, to queenstown, to omaru, and then back to christchurch. six people and a whole lotta luggage in a van. suprisingly, not to torturous.
our first day in christchurch was spent roaming the streets a little, eating, and this long as drive down the coast and up those twisty turny rolling hills to see some sights. gorgeous much, except for the blistering cold wind, but we survived it. :) then the next day, after spotting supre, i insisted that i squeeze in 20 mins on shopping before we were off to mount cook. probably the most productive 20 mins i've ever spent. :D hehe. then it was off for like a four + hour drive off to mount cook. thank god for gps, if not i think we would have been lost for quite a while.
we got there, checked into the hotel and stuff. then we were off to do a little 'walking' which ended up being a full on hike. thank god it wasn't uphill. yet. haha. all the way down to hooker valley. yess i know, the name damn chun kan. haha. took a bunch of pictures. saw memorials and stuff for people who lost their lives in the mountains and even witnessed an avalanche! pretty cool. heh. :D then we went for a fancy dinner, and back to the hotel it was. :)
the next day, on mom's request we did a two hour hike up to one of the peaks. forgot the trail name, but i'm pretty sure i took a picture of the signboard. anywho's. super tiring, but in the end, the view was definitely worth it! it even started snowing while we were on the peak. haha. i just couldn't get over how unpolluted the place was. like seriously, felt good to clean out my lungs a little. :D then we strolled on down and back to the car to head off to our next destination, queenstown. :) by the time we got there and checked in, it was evening. and freezing cold. dah la we were by the lakeside, so the breezes were super strong, can fall down wan. haha. had a chinese dinner that night, and more strolling around. then ian and i were chucked off into a cc and the parents went to the casino. damn them 20 years old age limits. :( but yeah, caught up with a couple people and then headed back to the hotel.
day 4 was probably my most favourite part of the trip. :) we got up, still unsure of what the plan was, went for some breakfast, and then we got in the car and decided to go skiing! :D haha. got to the peak, and mom, dad, ian and i geared up for some skiing. considering this was only my third time skiing. ( once when i was 3 and another when i was 9) but yeah, still ended up going for some lessons, just in case. :) after the lessons i was set loose on the hills. haha. joined mom and dad, and we even hit the peak of the ski hill and boy was it a long way down. fell a couple times, but i suppose thats all more the fun. but seriously, skiing is fun. heeee. :) can't wait to go again. came back, and went to Aggy's shack for some fish and chips and mussels. probably one of the best fish and chips AND mussels, EVER. yumm. :) ran to jay jays, did some damage, or a significant amount of damage. haha. jalan jalan, and hit the hay.
the next morning we headed off bright and early for milfords sound. which is basically a lake, far far away. the weather was gloomy the entire way there. and boy oh boy. it was a long drive. four freaking hours, ONE WAY. had subway along the way, took a bunch of pictures. and we were back. just in time for the shops to close. :( boo. but we did have awesome lamb for dinner. yummm. again to the cc. and ooh, i got my uggs! :D heh heh. twas definitely a happy girl. ;)
day 6 and we again, roamed the streets of queenstown, before making our way on up to omaru. :) along the way we stopped in a vineyard, bought wine and then continued to moeraki where we had lunch/dinner. boyy was it yummy. it was in this little restaurant called fleurs place and it was full of little knick knacks and cool decor. THAT place had character. :) i even met this little boy, who fell into the water, so he was freezing his butt off, and was trying to get people to share there cake with him. but his grandma worked there, so he got free food all the time. haha. sho cute. :P after the meal, we finally got to omaru, checked into the hotel and off we were to see the penguins. wah, damn cute la those little things. they were the blue penguins, so they are the smallest of the species. just watching them in their natural habitat, coming back home ashore. it was cool. haha. the penguin town stud was hilarious. poor penguin kept getting rejected by all the other girl penguins before finally finding his wife/girlfriend/mate. haha.
then we were back to the hotel after the long and tiring day. though i do have to say that i rather did like the town. it was very victorian and they restored and maintained all the buildings, so it looked like we went back in time. it was so cool. even the shops had all vintage stuff and the theatres and everything. very awesome. :D then we were back to christchurch again. did a bunch of shopping and walking around, then had dinner at sticky fingers. this cute little restaurant and back to the hotel to watch freedo writers. damnn good movie. me likey. :)
and thats pretty much it of my new zealand holiday. definitely somewhere to go back to. for sure. and my pictures, all 1000+ of them are still in the camera, cause i don't have enough memory to store them. boo. :( but i'll post some asap. :) hopefully fbook wont be such a bitch and let me upload them hassle free. haha. anyways, back to that over due calculus work. :D
yay.
cheers :)
